Why do U.S. hockey fans hate basketball so much?

I love hockey and hate basketball just because basketball takes over the sports world when it becomes that time of year. Hockey falls below the radar and only hockey fans know its happening. You might, if your lucky see two hockey games highlighted on Sportscenter. I bet a lot of people don't even know who Barry Melrose or Mathew Barnaby are (hockey analysts for ESPN). Hockey deserves some of the attention basketball has.
