Small claims notification?

So I was just looking into my credit report to see if anything needed to be corrected and see out of nowhere that my ex-roommate filed a small claims case against me in 3 months ago for $4,070. I was never notified of a court date, and also never notified that I missed a court date. Is this legal? My pay is completely untouchable, so I'm not worried about her getting my money but having it on my credit report for the next 7 years is going to be devastating. The worst part about it is that she is actually the one that owes me money, and I let it go because it wasn't worth the headache to chase her down for a couple hundred bucks. Not really sure what to do, as I'm trying NOT to react out of anger and do something I'm going to regret.
